Passengers traveling to Kathmandu have to pay up to Rs 35 after the Bagmati state government increased the fare of public transport by 23 per cent. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development has adjusted the new fare with effect from November 20.
According to the fare hike by the state government, one has to pay Rs 18 for public transport up to five kilometers in the Kathmandu Valley. The ministry has stated that the fare has been adjusted for the first time after 2075 BS at the request of the Department of Transport Management. According to the increased fare, the fare will be Rs 23 for 10 km, Rs 27 for 15 km, Rs 30 for 20 km and Rs 35 for 20 km.
Passengers will be able to carry goods up to 15 kg free of cost and up to 10 kg at the rate of Rs 5 per kg.
