Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizen Surendra Raj Acharya has asserted that people in Nepal had the right to follow any religion according to their will but nobody can be forced to change their religion.

At a workshop themed 'Freedom of religion and freedom in republic system of governance' organized here on Monday, Minister Acharya argued that the State did not have any religion of its own and was always serious about religious freedom.

In the event, organized by the Transform Foundation and the Nepal Christian Society, Minister Acharya said, "As the Nepal Christian Society is a non-governmental agency registered in the Social Welfare Council, it has been providing continuous support to women, children, and senior citizens in a dire state and those destitute ones in the society."

Parliamentarian Ganga Karki viewed that all religions could be viewed from the same point of view if the State does not have any religion. Karki admitted that each religion had good things as well as shortcomings.

Similarly, parliamentarian Prakash Pant opined that one should be mindful of others' rights while exercising one's rights and acknowledge and accept one another's existence.
