The Supreme Court has issued an order to stop the installation of new idols in the Kasthamandap. A single bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada on Monday issued an interim order suspending the installation of the new idol at the site.
The order comes in response to a writ petition filed by Advocate Sanjay Adhikari, seeking an interim order to stop the installation of new idol in the Kasthamandap.
In the writ petition, Adhikari had argued that Ancient Memorial Protection Act was violated and religious sentiment was hurt while violating international law on the protection of heritage and violated fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
It may be noted that the Kasthamandap, brought to ground by the 2015 Earthquake, was recently rebuilt to its original architecture.
