St. Xavier's College to host a two-day international conference

St. Xavier's College, Loyola Campus, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission of Nepal, is hosting a two-day international conference on Monday, December 5. The conference aims to build networks between students, scholars, and academicians from South Asia and beyond. With the theme, "Enriching Experiences, Transforming Lives", the college announced that Dr. Ari Niemien of the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences in Finland has consented to grace the conference as the Chief Guest.

Prof. Dr. Khondkar Siddique-e-Rabbani of the University of Dhaka, Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel of Kathmandu University, and Dr. Cherian P. Kurien of Marian Institute for Innovative Teaching Learning and Evaluation, India will be the keynote speakers at the conference. Other keynote speeches will be made by Prof. Dr. Gülçin Akca of Gazi University, Turkey, Prof. Dr. Madhu S. Atteraya, of Keimyung University, South Korea, Prof. Eungu Ji of Keimyung University, South Korea, and Bodil Tveit, VID Specialized University, Norway.

Almost a year ago, the college announced this event to mark the silver jubilee of Social Work Education in Nepal and to celebrate the success of the DIVINE Project. The project is co-financed by the Erasmus program of the EU.  The project, managed by Diak Finland, aims to provide a comprehensive set of tools for 'a competence-based curriculum' that promotes dignity in Vietnam and Nepal.

The project has contributed to improving the physical learning environment and enhanced teachers’ pedagogical competence in utilizing new teaching methodologies. A total of 52 papers will be presented in three different conference halls and participants from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Turkey, Finland, Norway, and South Korea will attend the conference.
