The Supreme Court on Thursday discontinued the interim order on the authentication of the bill relating to the amendment of the citizenship act, thereby paving the way for its implementation.
A division bench of Justices Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Kumar Regmi decided not to continue the interim order the SC had issued earlier, staying the implementation of bill authentication.
On June 4, Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma issued a show cause notice and interlocutory order on the implementation of the amendment of the act.
On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Ram Chandra Paudel had certified the bill on May 31, against which, senior advocates Surendra Bhandari and Bal Krishna Neupane had filed a writ petition.
