Police on Wednesday arrested a man on the charge of swindling six persons out of Rs 1,947,000 in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The arrestee has been identified as Bharat Prasad Rai of Rapti Municipality-3 in Chitwan district, who had currently been residing in Naya Bazar, KMC-16.
According to police, the founder of Grande Globe Holidays, Rai had swindled six persons out of Rs 1,947,000 with the promise to send them to Portugal, Latvia among other European countries.
He had cheated money from them saying that the visit visa for each of those countries cost Rs 1 million. He had gone out of contact after taking money from them.
Acting on the complaint, a team of security personnel deployed from Minbhawan-based Metropolitan Crime Division arrested Rai for the investigation.
Meanwhile, Rai has been handed over to Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation.
