Police arrested two persons on charge of withdrawing money from various ATMs of Siddhartha Bank through an expired debit card from Bhatkekopul in Kathmandu Metropolitan-5.
The arrested have been identified as Jagat Bahadur Gurung (57), a local resident of Solukhumbu district, and Sabitri Gurung (30), a local resident of Parsa district.
They had been allegedly withdrawing the money from Siddhartha Bank's ATMs in different locations like Chabahil, Kalopul, Hattisar, and Bhatbhateni areas.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Kathmandu-based Metropolitan Police Sector (MPS) nabbed the duo. The police also seized a foreign debit card, 'LLOYDS VISS Debit Card London', from them. They had allegedly withdrawn Rs 3.43 million from the ATMs. Out of Rs 3.43 million, they had deposited Rs 1.50 million in a finance company, informed the police.
Further investigation into the case is being carried out, said the police.
