The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has said that discussions are underway to open the school immediately. He said, "Kathmandu is not a metropolis like other localities in the valley. It has a large number of students and they should be kept safe."

"Children under the age of 18 are at higher risk of contracting the coronavirus virus." he added.

There are 91 community schools and 541 institutional schools in operation in the valley. There are 42,000 students in community schools and 220,000 students in institutional schools.

And 1,791 teachers working in community schools. The order issued by the District Administration Office on Wednesday said that the local levels could decide to run the school in coordination with the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Center within the provision of smart lockdown.
