As winter is right around the corner, isn't it the perfect season to get out in the sun and enjoy nature? And hiking is a lifetime experience. While most people love to hike in a group, some prefer solo travelling- to enjoy nature on their own. So focusing on the solo female hikers we have made a list of places to go; which not only have beautiful views but are safe for you as well.
Sisneri:
One of the well-known solo hiking places for the ladies near Kathmandu is Sisneri located at Makwanpur District. One can start there through Chobhar, Taudaha towards Pharping Dakshinkali.
From Dakshinkali there are two paths one can take: from Dashinkali might not be the best choice in monsoon, and the other one is from Fakhel.
It might take 4-5 hours to reach Sisneri bazaar from Fakhel. After the hour- long hike, you can take a rest and enjoy the beautiful view with a sip of tea.
And from there, the popular 'Sisneri natural swimming pool' is just about 5-6 km away.
Champadevi:
Champadevi is the third highest hill around Kathmandu valley standing at the height of 2278 meter. It is one of the best hiking destinations to see the beautiful mountain ranges of Nepal.
To reach Champadevi, there are several routes; but the most popular and easiest one is from Dollu Valley. It starts from Hattiban and the trail is very easy to follow. It will take around 3 hours to reach the valley.
There is another route from Dakshinkali Temple, far away from Taudaha Lake. However, it takes more time than the last one, from about 4-6 hours. Another route starts from the north side of the Pharping Valley and to the north of Champadevi.
If you’re planning to take these routes then you better prepare yourself for a long walk and a map in your backpack as they are trickier to identify.
Chisapani
Chisapani, which translates to “cold water” in English, is a small hill station away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu valley. It lies in the Shivapuri National Park and also leads to Langtang-Gosainkunda trekking region.
This is a perfect place filled with amazing views. One can take a bus to Sundarijal and then start their hike to Chisapani. It takes around 4 to 5 hours depending on the hiker’s capability to walk. Almost 90% of the route is uphill from Sundarijal to Chisapani, so it is not going to be an easy one but it surely is worth it.
Bishnudwar
Bishnudwar (the starting point of Bishnumati river), is located at a height of 1,950 meters of the Shivapuri National Park. It has great religious and cultural significance for Nepalis.
The hike starts from Budanilkantha, Kathmandu (you can find a public vehicle or take your own private vehicle till Budanilkantha temple area). After walking for a half hour from the bus stop you will reach the entrance of the Shivapuri National Park.
After paying Rs 100 entrance fee you can walk towards the Shivapuri hill. There you will see different routes with signboards that will guide you to reach your destination.
It takes about 3 to 4 hours and will be welcomed by hollow humid caves in the area and amazing waterfalls.
Simba fall
Simba falls, a secret waterfall located in the Lalitpur district is 50 kilometers away from Kathmandu city. The word 'Simba' comes from the Tamang language meaning “cold”.
While you may be wondering why I should go for a hike to a waterfall, the beauty of the place will not disappoint you at all.
One can take a bus from Lele Buspark heading to Gotikhel, located between Bhardev and Manikhel. After 2 hours of walking from there you’ll reach Manikhel and after one and a half hour you’ll reach your destination.
In between the road from Manikhel to Simba falls one will have to face waist-deep water and also the path might be slippery, so be careful while walking. But all the hassle is worth it after reaching the top and feeling the cold waterfall on your face.
