Gajendra Budhathoki, editor-in-chief of Taksar Magazine, was awarded Rs. 50,051 for the Shashtika Basnet Right to Information and Promotion Award - 2022.
While presenting the award to the esteemed media person, the Speaker of Province No. 1, Pradeep Kumar Bhandari, stressed on the need for journalists to publish news on behalf of the people on the basis of fairness and facts.
Minister for Transport Management and Communications Upendra Prasad Ghimire said that the state communications management bill has been introduced in the state assembly to make the journalists efficient in their livelihood and profession.
Chief of the Biratnagar Metropolitan City Bhim Parajuli said that the three-tier government has the responsibility to protect the professional rights and interests of professional journalists. Chief District Officer Kashiraj Dahal stressed on the need for all to express commitment from their respective constituencies to make the work of the state transparent.
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Morang President Sanjeev Khanal, Vice President Tara Acharya, Treasurer Abhay Rai, FNCCI State President Lila Ballabh Ghimire, Press Chautari Central Secretary Vikram Luintel, Press Association of Nepal State President Binod Ghimire, Yagya Sharma, fund donor Kedar Bahadur Basnet and respected Budhathoki called on the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) to work for the protection people's rights. They pointed out the need to move forward.
Basnet, a resident of Biratnagar-11, had set up a revolving fund in the name of his late wife Shashtika Basnet.
