Nilza Wangmo Rai, the organiser of the event says, “The main motive of organising this event was to bring out the child artisans and entrepreneurs With a target age of less than ten years, Farm Shop held its first 'Kids Market' for a cause today, December 18 at Le Sherpa. The event was held to collect books donated by event attendees in order to build a school library for Shyala School.
Child artisans and kidpreneurs flooded the market, selling everything from bakery goods to chocolates and chips. The event's organiser, Nilza Wangmo Rai, says, "The main goal of organising this event was to bring out the child artisans and entrepreneurs to come and sell their creations at our event."
The event consisted of various entertaining games such as giant jenga, bowling alley, bouncing castle, and legos. Few of the children also performed some catchy songs. The event was then followed by a magic show and gifts from Santa Claus. The children were all excited and were enjoying the show.
"Because my event partner and I both have 5-year-old sons, we wanted to do something as there aren't many exciting Christmas activities for kids in Kathmandu," Rai said. She further added that she wanted the event to be both exciting and educational for the children.
Talking to one of the vendors, Pari & Shae, Shraddha Raj Bhandari said that, "We wanted to try out a new place as we have kids specific things, and it turned out to be a good decision. I personally enjoyed and appreciated today's event."
Similarly, Dr Suman Lamba Dabas, who is a dentist by profession but artist by passion adds, "This is a lovely place to be, me and my kids are enjoying it a lot. It's vibrant, nice, and bright, just like Christmas should be."
"I didn't even expect the event to be this successful. So, since we've received a positive response and everyone is expecting more from us, we'll definitely plan something bigger the next time. We'll be doing it again next year, at least twice a year," Rai continues.
They expect at least 10-15 kid vendors, so it will be kid vendors and kid customers, and they will know how to manage their budget and their skills simultaneously.
