To find someone who doesn’t know what makeup is impossible in the present time. It is a daily need for most people and it has become one of the most successful global industries. Make-up is no longer just about looking better; it is more about boosting confidence and building personalities.
Manon Lama who is a makeup educator at KTM School of Makeup, Anamnagar, says, “Make-up has played a huge role in my life, both personally and professionally. It always helps me present myself better in public.”
There are numerous make-up brands available in the market today. With numbers of companies to select from, a confusion many make-up enthusiasts face- is selection of a good product. The quality of a product cannot be judged by a brand’s name or the price.
Lama explains, “Things like skin color, texture and type need to be taken under consideration while choosing a make-up product. You should also make sure your skin doesn’t react badly with the product. However, one cannot know what product suits you best without giving it a try first.” says Lama.
She emphasizes the importance of understanding one's skin type. “Having that knowledge of what your skin requires helps you take care of your skin,'' she says. Also, knowing the skin type helps with better make-up too.
There are mainly three types of skin: oily, normal and dry. But there are chances that you may have a mixture of two or more skin types too. This is called ‘combination skin’. Each type of skin has different requirements to stay healthy and glowing which is the reason why it is important to pay attention to it during skincare and make-up sessions.
Oily skin usually has a rough texture caused by enlarged pores. The skin type is shiny to look at and is easily prone to acne.
“People with oily skin should refrain from using oil based products as much as possible.” says Lama.
Normal skin is neither too dry nor too oily; it is moist and has a smooth texture with no blemishes or black- heads. People having normal skin can use any kind of product without worrying too much.
As for the dry skin, it peels and flakes a lot. Since it has less elasticity, more visible lines and almost invisible pores, it should be regularly moisturized and hydrated.
Make-up has become an important part of life whether for daily basis and work or social events. With numerous tutorials online and makeup schools all around, learning make-up skills is not difficult.
“Learning about main elementary make-up is not difficult at all”, says Lama. “While make-up is common in today's society, one should at least know about makeup products and its uses”, she adds
