The fourth edition of the Multinational Exercise Peace Effort is going to be organized in Nepal to improve the professional efficiency and mutual coordination capacity of the forces participating in peacekeeping operations. This exercise organized by the Nepali Army will be conducted from February 20 to March 4, 2024.
As a preliminary preparation for the exercise to be conducted with the support of the Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI) of the United States of America, a Planning Conference was held from December 11 to 15 at Birendra Peace Training Center Panchkhal, including representatives of Nepal, America, Australia, and other countries.
Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the United States of America participated in the first Peace Exercise I in 2000. Similarly, in 2013, 850 soldiers from 23 countries and 1135 soldiers from 29 countries participated in its second and third editions in 2017. It has been operated.
The initial plan is that the soldiers of 22 countries, including Nepal, will participate in the fourth edition of Exercise Peace Effort. The exercise will include 3 types of activities namely Staff Training Event (STE), Field Training Event (FTE), Critical Enabler, and Capability Enhancement (2CE). Similarly, within the same period, a Regional Training Seminar on peace work will also be organized.
According to the headquarters of the Nepali Army, it is believed that this type of exercise will help the soldiers of the participating countries to be aware of the challenges that have arisen in peacekeeping operations and to develop the necessary skills and professional working style to face those challenges.
