The earthquake on April 25, 2015, created massive destruction in Nepal. Thousands of people lost their lives and hundreds of private houses along with historical monuments were damaged or completely destroyed. Dharahara, which stands as a symbol of national culture and unity, was also among those historical buildings that was totally damaged due to the temblor.
The National Reconstruction Authority, which was tasked with the rebuilding measures in the country, took up the reconstruction works of the Dharahara on December 28, 2019.
Dharahara, which collapsed during the April 25, 2015 earthquake, is in its final phase of reconstruction.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be inaugurating the reconstructed historical tower on April 24, 2021.
