Wastes have piled up by the roadsides for over a week in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The KMC has been grappling with waste management as the road to the Sisdol landfill site has been obstructed due to landslide triggered by monsoon rain.
One of the waste management workers at Tokha Municipality-9 told NepalNews, “The small vehicles are unable to collect and dispose of waste as other vehicles have been stranded outside Kathmandu valley near landfill sites due to the obstruction of the road in Sisdol area." Due to disruption of traffic, the KMC waste management team has been disposing of the wastes on the banks of Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers citing these places as the only open space in the valley.”
Piles of wastes were found at various places in Kathmandu, on Wednesday.
