IPL 2023 records being tumbled on doubleheader days

The fever for the Indian Premier League is the growing-day-by day as every match is becoming thriller and nail-biting. And the doubleheader games have double the excitement and thrill. Till now we have played 14 doubleheader matches and every game has kept spectators on the edge of their seats. However, in yesterday’s matches between Punjab Kings-Mumbai Indian and Gujarat Titans-Lucknow Super Giants, many records were made and many were broken, let us look at some:

Arjun Tendulkar Leaks run, creating unwanted record (PBKS vs MI)

Young bowler Arjun Tendulkar registered an unwanted record in his starting career. Arjun conceded 31 runs in the 16th over and with that over he bowled the second most expensive over by an MI bowler in the IPL.

Sam Curran and Harpreet Bhatia’s partnership (PBKS vs MI)

With a 92-run partnership between Sam Curran & Harpreet Bhatia, the duo became the second-highest fifth-wicket partnership for Punjab Kings. The first position is still held by the 130* run partnership between David Miller & Rajagopal Sathish against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mohali, 2013.

Punjab Kings’ last six overs explosion (PBKS vs MI)

Punjab Kings snatched the win from Mumbai Indians’ hands in the last six overs by batting incredibly. In their final six overs of the innings, i.e 16th to 20th over, Punjab Kings scored a massive 109 runs.

Punjab Kings post second-highest score against MI (PBKS vs MI)

In the match, PBKS posted 214/8 in their 20 overs. The highest total for Punjab Kings against MI is 230/3, which they posted back in 2017. PBKS has also posted totals of 198/4 (Indore, 2017), 198/5 (Pune, 2022) and 197/4 (Mumbai, 2019) against the five-time champions.

KL Rahul’s turtle race (LSG vs GT)

KL Rahul played the third-slowest knock in IPL history. In the match, KL scored 68 off 61 balls at a strike rate of 111.48. He is Behind JP Duminy, who played an inning of 59 (63) with a strike rate of 93.65 against Punjab Kings in 2009 while playing for Mumbai Indians (MI). Following him is Aaron Finch, who scored 68 (62) with a strike rate of 109.68 for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Mumbai Indians in 2014.

Rohit Sharma’s 250 sixes landmark (PBKS vs MI)

Rohit Sharma, known as ‘the Hitman, lifts up to his name expectation. He has touched the mark of 250 sixes by any cricketer. He is the only Indian and third in the world to achieve it. In the match, Rohit played a knock of 44 runs in 27 balls. His knock consisted of four boundaries and three sixes.

Arshdeep reaches 50 IPL wickets (PBKS vs MI)

Arshdeep Singh has registered himself on the list of taking 50 wickets in IPL. In the match, Arshdeep ended with figures of 4/29 in four overs with an economy rate of 7.25. He took wickets of Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhra. In 44 IPL matches, Arshdeep has taken 53 wickets at an average of 23.74 and an economy rate of 8.32. His best bowling figures are 5/32.

Piyush Chawla-fifth highest wicket-taker (PBKS vs MI)

The spin veteran became the fifth highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He has taken nine wickets in six matches at an average of 17.55 and an economy rate of 6/86. His best bowling figures are 3/22 and is in the ninth bowling charts so far. He is the leading wicket-taker for MI this season so far.

KL Rahul completes 7,000 T20 runs (LSG vs GT)

KL Rahul reached to the milestone of becoming a batter to complete 7,000 in T20 format. In 210 matches and 197 innings, KL has scored 7,054 runs at an average of 42.49. He has scored six centuries and 61 fifties in the format, with the best score of 132*. His strike rate in T20 is 136.20.

Suryakumar Yadav reaches 6000 T20I runs (PBKS vs MI)

Suryakumar Yadav completed his 6000 runs in the match against Punjab Kings. He has played 248 matches where he scored 6021 runs with an average of 34.01 and at a strike rate of 149.55. he has bagged 38 fifties and three hundred in the same format.
