The 210th birth anniversary of Adikabi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya has been observed in the United States of America.
At a programme organised by the International Nepali Literary Society, Maryland Chapter on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti, various speakers shed light on the contribution of Bhanu Bhakta in the Nepali language and literature sector and multi-dynamic shades of his creations.
On the occasion, a member of the Maryland General Assembly, Dr Harry Bhandari, lauded the role played by Bhanu Bhakta for the advancement of Nepali language and literature.
Bhandari mentioned that Bhanu Bhakta had an 'incomparable contribution' to creating a foundation of Nepali language and literature by translating Ramayan into the Nepali language.
Similarly, Professor at Morgan State University Dr Uttam Gauli recalled that there was a struggle for freedom in Bhanu Bhakta's creations.
Litterateur Govinda Giri Prenana shared that diplomatic missions abroad should take initiatives to celebrate Bhanu Jayanti.
Meanwhile, the International Nepali Literary Society is to present INLS Best Award for the novel 'Raithane' by Rana Kafle, who is involved in the literary sector living in India. The award carries a purse of 2,000 US dollars.
