Myanmar authorities have seized 435 kilograms of crystal meth in the country's central region of Mandalay, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) late Wednesday.
Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotics police searched a motorcycle and a vehicle in Yamethin Township in the region on Sept. 24 and confiscated the narcotic drugs, the statement said.
The seized narcotics are worth approximately 8.7 billion kyats (over 4.14 million U.S. dollars), and two suspects were arrested in the case, the CCDAC said. Investigation showed that the narcotic drugs came from Shan state, it said.
The suspects were charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.
