The Pakistani army has arrested seven terrorists in an operation in the country's northwest North Waziristan district, said a military statement.
The Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation Monday on the presence of terrorists in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan, a district in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the ISPR, the arrested terrorists included a terrorist commander named Mehtab alias Lala, who belonged to a faction of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
"The apprehended terrorists have been involved in numerous terrorist activities, especially target killings against security forces as well as innocent citizens, and were highly wanted by the security agencies," said the ISPR.
The military added that locals of the area appreciated the security forces' operation and assured of their support in eliminating the menace of terrorism.
