Argentina on Thursday reported 537 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the highest number of daily fatalities from the virus since the start of the outbreak in the country.
That figure took the country's pandemic death toll to 60,620, while the 27,216 new cases detected in the past 24 hours brought the total caseload to 2,796,768, the Health Ministry said.
Some 2,449,793 people are reported to have recovered from the disease, while another 286,355 remain in the active stage.
A total of 4,791 patients are currently in intensive care units, whose occupancy rate stands at 65.6 per cent nationwide and 75.3 per cent in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, an area including the nation's capital and some 40 surrounding municipalities.
