A journalist was shot dead at his residence on Friday in India's eastern state of Bihar, the police said.
Vimal Kumar Yadav was killed in his home located in Raniganj Bazaar area of Araria district, about 315 km east of Patna, the capital city of Bihar state.
Yadav, 35, was working for local Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagran.
According to the police, unidentified gunmen knocked on his door in the morning and called his name. When Yadav opened the door he was shot in the chest.
"Yadav was killed on the spot," senior police official J.S. Gangwar told the media.
Describing the incident as sad, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said he had directed officials to investigate the crime.
