Snow has fallen in Manang and the change in weather has been drastic for a few days. The district administration office has urged to remain vigilant as the temperature has fallen due to snowfall.
Chief District Officer Rabindra Prasad Acharya informed that the locals have been requested to be vigilant and contact the administration office and security agencies in case of any problem. According to him, the residents of the district have gone to hilly districts, Pokhara and Kathmandu to avoid winter, while only sheep herdsmen and staff are staying in Manang. Locals living in the district have been urged to be vigilant as the cold weather intensifies.
The inspection of the physical infrastructure and condition of Humde Airport has been monitored under the leadership of Chief District Officer Acharya. He said that they have come to the conclusion of immediate initiation for the maintenance and utilization of the structure due to the snowfall.
He said that the situation of tourism and local people's life in Manang Ngisyang village, the impact of cold on the daily life of locals, and the situation of police and civil servants were observed. Acharya said that the tourist footpaths from Chame to Talekhu, Bhratang, Dhikurpokhari, Pisang, Green Lake, Border Police Post Humde, Munje, Vraka, Manang, and Tanki Manang were also monitored.
He said, "Tourists are still coming but they have not been able to reach Tilicho Lake." He said that tourists from American and Russian countries, along with experienced guides and Sherpas, were on their way to Thorangla Pass, and Bengali tourists were returning without further ado. According to Acharya, the water flowing in lakes, shallows and small streams other than Green Lake had been completely frozen but melted as soon as the sun rose. He said that the life of the people of Manang was normal.
