Minister for Urban Development Sita Gurung has said that disaster preparedness should be accorded top priority to lessen the damages.
Addressing a conference on "From Recovery to Resilience: Implementing Nepal's Declaration on Green, Resilient and Inclusive Development Pathway" here Tuesday, Minister Gurung asked the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority to advance by devising plans of action for disaster preparedness.
On the occasion, he voiced for an integrated mechanism along with services for disaster management adding that the mechanism should be readied for its mobilization in case of any disaster.
Meanwhile, Minister Gurung said that the government would give special attention to the development of integrated settlements.
At a program organized at Barpak, the epicenter of the Gorkha Earthquake, on Tuesday, Minister Gurung said that the concept of integrated settlement was prioritized since it has helped advance the development works speedily and effectively.
Likewise, she said that the ministry's attention was drawn to the remaining tasks for the completion of the Earthquake Memorial Park being developed in memory of those killed in the Gorkha Earthquake.
