Entrepreneurs scared of volt power line in Lalitpur

Entrepreneurs in Lalitpur are terrified of the 11,000 kV power line flowing in Lagankhel. The Lalitpur District Association of fruits and vegetables are scared that the 11,000 kg volt power line flowing from the market may collapse one day.

Krishna Prasad Sanjel, president of the association, said that they have repeatedly demanded the Lalitpur Municipal Corporation to set up a modern agricultural wholesale market in Balkumari and Malpokhari or Khumaltar. He added, "By developing, expanding and protecting this market, the demand of the urban area and the pressure of the Kalimati vegetable market could have been reduced to some extent."

He said that no one was interested in establishing wholesale and medium market in the place shown by the feasibility study of market development by upgrading the public-private retention of agricultural market in the district from time to time. "Even though the roof of the market established in 2058 BS is dilapidated and leaking, the corporation has not shown any interest in its development or expansion," he said. That has not been addressed. ”

The association has been charging Rs 9,288 per 25 to 30 square feet per month. There are 82 stalls in the market.

Sanjel informed that the monthly rent of all of them is Rs. 7, 61,616.

Shiva Shahi, vice-president of the corporation, said that they would be compelled to join the agitation as the corporation did not show any interest in submitting a letter with measurements, maps and designs.

He said, "As we know that the center has sufficient budget for the development of agricultural infrastructure, the metropolis should immediately sign an agreement with the center to develop Lagankhel and Dhapagal markets in public-private space."

Shahi informed that the market could not be opened full time due to COVID-19.

Navraj Nagarkoti, a fruit and juice trader of Lagankhel, has demanded that the shop was closed for a long and how he has not been able to pay the rent.

Chiribabu Maharjan, chief of the corporation, said that a study start to make the market systematic including the construction of a moisture center through this year's municipal council.

He said, "As it is not possible to move the market to other places, we will continue to make the old place systematic." According to Maharjan, discussions are underway to give a three-month rent exemption to any trader doing business in the metropolis.
