Federation of Nepali Journalists elects new leadership

KATHMANDU: The final results of the Federation of Nepali Journalists elections have been released.

The results of the voting, which took place last Friday, were made public late Sunday night.

Nirmala Sharma was elected as president with 4,282 votes, while her closest competitor, Ramesh Bista, received 3,203 votes.

Deepak Acharya secured the position of senior vice president with 4,230 votes, defeating Roshan Puri, who received 2,886 votes.

Neetu Pandit won the vice president (women) post with 4,705 votes, while her opponent, Ganga Poudel Baral, earned 2,644 votes.

Umid Bagchand triumphed as vice president (inclusive) with 4,292 votes, with Subhash Prasad Sah, his nearest rival, getting 2,080 votes.

Ram Prasad Dahal was chosen as general secretary with 4,084 votes, while Lekhnath Neupane, his closest opponent, received 1,929 votes.

Ramesh Khatiwada was elected to the open secretary post with 3,400 votes, leaving Uttar Singh Bista, who received 2,067 votes, in second place.

Soni Sharma won the secretary (women) position with 4,347 votes, while Sarita Baraili got 2,823 votes.

Sabin Priyasan was elected secretary (indigenous) with 3,535 votes, defeating Bhisan Rai, who received 2,457 votes.

In the secretary (Madhesi) post, Ashok Kumar Tiwari received 3,858 votes, while Shreejan Jha, his rival, earned 2,243 votes.

Prakash Dhaulakoti was elected secretary (Dalit) with 4,110 votes, defeating Basanta BK, who garnered 1,892 votes.

Baikuntha Raj Parajuli won the secretary (associate) position with 3,645 votes, while Bikash Karki, his nearest competitor, got 2,735 votes.

Ramkrishna Adhikari was elected treasurer with 3,847 votes, while his rival, Ramkrishna Gyawali, received 3,464 votes.

Among the members, Chhabilal Tiwari, Bhupendra Acharya, Mukunda Prasad Bhandari, Rameshwor Karki, and Labdev Dhungana were elected from the open category.

Kamal Risal and Shankar Kharel were elected from Kosi Province. Raju Bishwakarma and Rajesh Kumar Karna won from Madhesh. Outside the Valley, Nawaraj Pathik and Narayan Prasad Adhikari were elected from Bagmati Province.

Krishna KC and KB Rana emerged victorious from Gandaki Province, while Ramraj Pokharel and Bikash Banjade won from Lumbini.

Tula Ram Pandey and Nagendra Prasad Upadhyay were elected from Karnali, and Yogendra Bahadur Balayar and Suresh Pant were chosen as central members from Sudurpaschim.

Arjun Pant and Surya Subedi were elected from Upatyaka Province, while Pavitra Mudbhari and Manuka Kunwar won from Associate.

Birendra Oli and Savita Sharma were elected as central members from Pratishthan Province.

Rubi Kumari Rauniyar (Madhesh women), Mala Palungwa (Adivasi Janajati women), Leela Shah Yogi (Khas Arya women), and Rita Budhathoki (Dalit woman, unopposed) have been elected as central members.
