Professor Dr Nanda Bahadur Singh, vice-chancellor of Mid-Western University has said that he had been attacked for his efforts to bring reforms in the university going through anomalies.
A criminal group has spread a rumour about his death by misusing the letterhead, stamp, and signature of the chief administrator of the university, VCE Singh maintained at a press conference organised here on Sunday.
Prof Singh reacted to a statement about his 'death' on the letterhead of the university posted on social networking sites on Saturday.
"I have been attacked from all sides for my efforts to end corruption in the university. My death has been announced in a meaningful manner. I however will not be moved by it. I will continue my drive to end anomalies in the university at any cost until I remain in the post," he said.
Prof Singh said that he has filed a case under cybercrime and misuse of government documents.
Meanwhile, the university administration and various professors' and students' organisations have demanded action against the perpetrators in the case.
