An unidentified group has set fire to the Information Technology Laboratory of Shree Panchayat Adarsh Secondary School in Dhangadha of Basbariya-4 on Saturday.
According to the police, 24 computers were damaged due to the fire. Seven of the computers were completely burned and others were partially damaged. Police said that the arsonists stole some monitors and equipment as well.
The school office was set on fire eight years ago too. Locals allege that the school administration did not take any interest in security after the school office was burglarized.
A necessary investigation process has been started into the incident, said Inspector of Police Narendra Kumar Mairavaita. An information technology laboratory was set up at the school two years ago in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Nepal Telecommunication Authority. Necessary equipment including 24 computers and various materials were handed over to the school for setting up the laboratory.
