Agast Adhikari, who had been waging a hunger strike representing the sufferers of microfinance, has stopped the strike after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal assured to address problems.
Adhikari met PM Dahal on Sunday. He however warned of resuming the hunger strike at Basantapur if the demands were not met.
PM Dahal discussed with the chairman of the struggle committee against microfinance, Punaram Gyawali, and members of a network of six farmers' associations. In the meeting, PM Dahal assured to address the demands of the people suffering from microfinance.
The struggle committee demanded the government that addressed their problems from the policy level. Forthcoming policy and budget of the government could address this serious issue, the committee argued.
Gyawali informed that they stopped agitation programs after discussing with PM Dahal.
