KATHMANDU: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, who was arrested on charges related to cybercrime, has been presented before the Supreme Court.
The government was directed by the Supreme Court to provide reasons for Prasai's arrest within 48 hours on November 24. After Prasai was arrested, his son Nirajan Prasai had filed writ petition.
A single bench of Justice Manoj Sharma had ordered his appearance along with the habeas corpus petition on Sunday.
Prasai was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) at his residence in Bhaktapur last Tuesday after a 'controversial statement' against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. He is also being investigated for money laundering, including cybercrime.
