POKHARA: Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, has been brought before the Kaski District Court for a fourth custody extension in connection with his ongoing legal case.
Lamichhane was detained in Kathmandu on accusations of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
He has already had his detention extended three times, with the most recent extension expiring on Friday.
The Kaski District Court had initially issued an arrest warrant against Lamichhane to investigate allegations of embezzling funds from the Surya Darshan Cooperative in Pokhara.
Additional arrest warrants have been issued in Rupandehi, Kathmandu, and Chitwan.
Furthermore, an arrest warrant has been issued for Lamichhane concerning the embezzlement of funds from the Swarnalakshmi Multi-Purpose Cooperative Organization in Kalimati, Kathmandu.
He was previously transported from Pokhara to Rupandehi for questioning regarding the embezzlement of savings from the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal, Rupandehi.
