KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the release of medical enterpreneur Durga Prasai. A bench of Supreme Court Justices Nahakul Subedi and Saranga Subedi ordered Prasai's release on Friday.
The police had arrested Prasai for allegedly spreading misinformation against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Although the court ordered his release on bail in that case, the police arrested him again on the basis of another arrest warrant issued by the court on charges of threatening a businessman.
He was produced before the Supreme Court on Friday after an order was issued to appear in person in a second habeas corpus writ.
He had demanded his release on a regular date as the police had re-arrested him with the intention of causing pain even though he was released on bail in a cybercrime case. Accordingly, the Supreme Court issued a writ in his favor as per his petition.
