A fire broke out on a truck that was travelling on the bridge over the Karnali river in Chisapani. The truck (Na 5 Ka 5297) was reportedly carrying 1,100 cartoon lighters that led to the fire, according to Police Inspector Hariram Dangi of Chisapani District Police Office.
The truck was completed gutted in the fire, with 14 ropes on the east side of the bridge also suffering damage in the fire. Fire engines from Lamkichuha, Ghodaghodi, Tikapur Municipality and Bansgadhi Municipality of Bardia were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, local residents and other worked to put out the fire.
Meanwhile, traffic over the Karnali bridge has been stopped. The incident of fire in the truck is being investigated, police said.
