The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Monday reported 1,227 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 285,900.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 395 new cases of coronavirus infection — 505 in Kathmandu, 97 in Lalitpur and 32 in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 370 males and 264 females have been reported to have contracted the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
As many as 255 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 275,555 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Monday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 96.4 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,091 with the report of one more death from COVID-19 that occurred in the past 24 hours and seven others earlier. Presently, there are 7,254 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Sunday had reported 1,096 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 284,673.
As of Monday, a total of 2,352,502 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 7,254 persons staying in isolation while 81 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 141.46 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,159,601 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:11 pm, on Monday, April 19, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
