167 new cases of coronavirus reported on Tuesday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 167 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 277,147.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 89 new cases of coronavirus infection — 78 in Kathmandu, seven in Lalitpur and four in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 42 males and 24 females have been reported to be detected with the coronavirus infection in the valley.

As many as 115 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 272,612 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Tuesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.4 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,030 with three additional reports of death and two deaths in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,390 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 141 new cases of coronavirus that had taken nationwide tally to 276,980.

More than 127.72 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,919,909 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:10 pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
