The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday reported 2,220 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 289,787.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 1,051 new cases of coronavirus infection — 786 in Kathmandu, 181 in Lalitpur and 84 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.
As many as 287 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 276,093 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Wednesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 95.3 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,112 with the report of 10 more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 10,582 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 1,667 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 287,567.
As of Wednesday, a total of 2,369,401 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 10,582 persons staying in isolation while 86 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 143 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,183,632 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:08 pm, on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
