The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 2,449 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 294,601.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 940 new cases of coronavirus infection — 760 in Kathmandu, 106 in Lalitpur and 74 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.
As many as 410 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 276,755 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Friday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 93.9 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,117 with the report of five more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 14,724 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 2,365 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 292,152.
As of Friday, a total of 2,388,200 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 14,724 persons staying in isolation while 75 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 144.78 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,211,764 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:02 pm, on Friday, April 23, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
