Two people died and six sustained injuries when a truck met with an accident in the Gorkha district on Monday noon.
The deceased have been identified as Umesh Shrestha of Aarughat in Gorkha district and 32-year-old Bishnu Khadka of Shailung in Dolakha district.
Shrestha was a truck driver while Khadka was working in the Rastriya Banijya Bank, Gajuri branch, according to District Police Office in Gorkha.
Both were critically hurt in the accident and breathed their last during the treatment.
DSP Leela Raj Lamichhane shared that the injured ones were Ramila Rana Magar, 30, Lal Bahadur Gurung, 59, and Narayan Bhujhel, 68, of Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-7 in Gorkha district.
Also, those hurt in the accident were Savitri BK, 49, of Gorkha Municipality-10, Mangal Chaudhary, 28, of Bardia district, and Buddi Bahadur Nepali whose age and address are yet to be ascertained.
Of the injured ones, two were receiving treatment at Bharatpur Medical College while remaining ones were being treated at Gorkha Hospital, police said.
The accident occurred when the truck coming towards Aanboohkhaireni from Gorkha district on Monday noon fell off some 200 meters down the road after hitting a motorbike.
Some pedestrians were also hit by the uncontrolled truck ferrying vegetables, police said.
