Police have arrested three Indian nationals with gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 11 million.
They were arrested this morning with 63.898 tolas of gold and 22.878 tolas of diamond ornaments. Police seized such a huge quantity of gold and diamond ornaments that were being brought to Kathmandu from Kolkatta by concealing a vehicle with an Indian registration number.
Organizing a press release on Wednesday, District Police Office, Chitwan, made public the Indian nationals and the impounded ornaments. Those arrested are Binod Prasad, 42, of Baliya District in Uttar Pradesh, Ganapat Kumar Tosawor, 51, and Naresh Varma, 42, of Hauda district in West Bengal, said District Police Office Chief, Rameshwor Karki.
Those arrested will be sent to the Department of Revenue Investigation, along with the confiscated ornaments.
Similarly, the Office held three persons with 33 bottles of banned cough syrup, Corex, from Khairahani municipality-6. Those apprehended are Suraj Kumar Shahi, 40, Prakash Gautam, 36, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12, and Shailendra Shrestha, 50, of Bharatpur-2.
