Thirty-three community schools at Pauwadung Rural Municipality in Bhojpur district have got internet access. The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NEA) and the rural municipality have reached an agreement to expand internet service to the schools to provide technology-friendly education, it has been said. Each school has got 20 Mbps non-dedicated internet line.
According to the agreement, the NEA will provide internet service worth over Rs 2.4 million (per Rs 73,900 worth in the first year) to each school.
Similarly, each school will get internet service worth Rs 600,000 (per Rs 18,000 in the second year), said Sunita Katawal, chief of the education branch at the rural municipality.
The rural municipality chairperson Kiran Rai expressed the hope that internet expansion in the schools would make it easier to provide technology-friendly education to children.
