The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday reported 4,774 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 312,699. Additionally, 123 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 2,047 new cases of coronavirus infection — 1,464 in Kathmandu, 351 in Lalitpur and 232 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.
As many as 773 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 279,279 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Wednesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 89.3 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,211 with the report of 17 more deaths from COVID-19 of which 10 persons died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 30,209 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 4,364 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 307,925.
As of Wednesday, a total of 2,445,968 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 30,209 persons staying in isolation while 54 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 148.78 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,275,570 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:01 pm, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
