With the spread of third wave of corona virus infection, a total of 537 doctors and health workers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the hospitals and health institutions in Chitwan.
With 144 cases, the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital has recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases while 114 were ewported in Chitwan Medical College, Chief of Health Office Chitwan Dipak Prasad Tiwari said.
According to Tiwari, 83 persons have been infected in Bharatpur Hospital, 62 in other private hospitals and 34 health workers from College of Medical Sciences in the district.
Similarly, 28 health workers working in Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s health section tested positive for corona virus while 15 in Ratnanagar Municipality and 18 each in Rapti Municipality and Khairahani Municipality.
Eight health workers are infected in Kalika Municipality and nine in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality.
Tiwari said that details from Madi Municipality are not received so far.
Likewise, four persons tested positive for coronavirus in the District Health Office, Chitwan.
Tiwari shared that the health care institutions have not halted their services so far and continue offering services on the basis of rotational duty of the health workers amid the infection.
Currently, the Bharatpur Hospital has suspended GOPD and scheduled surgery services while all other institutions’ services are unhindered.
