Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has said that weaknesses of an individual should not be described as that of the form of governance.
"Weaknesses of an individual are not of the form of governance. There should not be an attack on form of governance by depicting the weaknesses of an individual," Minister said today while addressing the 27th anniversary of Radio Sagarmatha 102.4 Mhz.
Such individuals and the shortcomings should be changed and for this to happen the media and politicians have a common role to play, she said, adding that the achievements made for political freedom are precious.
Minister Sharma viewed that ensuring accessible service delivery for the citizens is crucial in a republic and added that safeguarding the achievements is our responsibility. "Republic, democracy and inclusion are a great achievement. The syndicate of the elite class is subverted."
On the occasion, Minister Sharma expressed best wishes for Radio Sagarmatha for further progress adding that its programmes are popular and useful for the listeners.
Minister Sharma urged the radio's management team to apply new technology and make competitive programmes as the expectations of the listeners to ensure sustainability of the radio.
Also speaking at the programme, senior journalist Bhairab Risal said that the support of the listeners is necessary for the continuity of Radio Sagarmatha, the first community radio in South Asia.
Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Krishna Bahadur Raut vowed to incorporate the issues of the sustainability of the community radio in the mass communications policy.
Deputy Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, Chair of Press Counil Nepal Bal Krishna Basnet, Chair of Sancharika Samuha Bimala Tumkhewa and others shared their views on radio's leadership and management, media contents and sustainability of the community radio, among others.
During the event, Minister Sharma honoured different personalities including senior journalist Risal for their contributions to Radio Sagarmatha.
