Action against the educational institutions that charge higher fees

Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and Education, Science and Technology Minister Devendra Poudel have discussed about taking action against the educational institutions that charge more than the fees prescribed by the Medical Education Commission.

A discussion was held this evening on the issue of taking legal action after the decision reached between the National Medical Education Commission, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Kathmandu Medical College, Nobel Medical College, parents, and students were not implemented.

During the discussion, Minister Poudel said that the Ministry of Education was in favor of the students and urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide necessary facilities to solve the problems of the agitating students.

"I have repeatedly gone to the medical college to listen to the complaints of the students. The decision made a few days ago was not implemented and further action had to be taken, ”said Education Minister Poudel during the discussion.

According to the National Medical Education Act, 2075 BS, a meeting chaired by Minister Poudel was held on December 12, 2013. No more than the fee prescribed by the Medical Education Commission for the MBBS program of the undergraduate level of medical education. It was decided to discuss with the concerned bodies, experts, and other stakeholders to resolve the inconvenience caused by the university and the implementation of the Act.

During the discussion, Home Minister Khand said that the ministry was in favor of the students and would immediately move ahead by understanding the real situation there through CDOs of the Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Morang districts.
