An alternative route has been managed after the Rasuwa section along the Pasang Lhamu Highway got disrupted by a landslide.
The landslide that occurred at the Majhgaun-Banuwa Ghumti on Tuesday night disrupted the highway and now a route from Aambhanjyang Simle to the Dharapani area via Taruke has been used as the alternative arrangement.
According to Rasuwa's chief district officer Nawaraj Jaisi, the technical team assessed that it might take time to restore the damaged route and that's why a rural road towards Taruke was chosen for vehicular movement.
However, the alternative route is narrow and congested. So, only light vehicles like jeeps, cars and motorcycles are preferred for riding.
Pilgrims to the Gosaikunda were facilitated to reach the destination via the alternative route. Gosaikunda, the country's famous religious site, draws a large number of devotees to take a holy dip in the freshwater lake on the day of Janai Purnima which is being celebrated tomorrow, Friday.
The disruption at the Banuwa section has hampered the import from China. Cargo vehicles en route to Nepal from China have been halted midway.
The District Administration Office Rasuwa is learnt to have already urged the Road Division Office to take measures for restoring the route for the convenience of trans-border trade. The landslide-hit areas lack space for a division and it is estimated to take at least one month to build a gabion wall there.
