Ambulance service installed with GPS is to be operated in Gandaki province. The service is being operated through financial assistance of the Province Ministry of Health and Population and the technical support of Nepal Red Cross Society by setting up a dispatch centre.
The Health Directorate and Nepal Red Cross Society have initiated an agreement to that connection. Red Cross Society Gandaki Province president Surya Prasad Dhakal said the objective was to provide the service by developing the pre-hospital health service system.
Two hundred sixteen ambulances including those of the government hospitals, the private hospitals, the Nepal Red Cross Society and other social organisations are in operation in Gandaki province.
GPS would be installed in 150 ambulances this year and it will be installed in the remaining ambulances next fiscal year. The Health Directorate will spend approximately Rs 3.8 million while Nepal Red Cross Society Rs 6.2 million for this purpose.
