The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) and the National Youth Association (NYA), both close to ruling CPN (UML), have mobilised separate teams to launch rescue operations and provide reliefs to flood victims at Melamchi and Helambu areas in Sindhupalchowk district.
Many people have been displaced and property worth thousands of rupees has been damaged after Melamchi and Helambu bazaars have been flooded due to incessant rain since Tuesday night.
A 15-member team including doctors and health workers led by ANNFSU Chair Ain Mahar along with 150 sacks of rice, cooking oil, tarpaulin sheets are leaving for the incident sites today.
The committees under the ANNFSU have been mobilised for rescue efforts, it has been said. A team along with relief materials has been mobilised since Tuesday night, said the NYA Chair Kiran Poudel. A team of the NYA office bearers in Kathmandu along with relief materials and medicines would be dispatched to the flood-hit areas by assessing the situation, he said.
