Apex court seeks amicus curie support on writ petition

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order for an investigation to be conducted against former minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha who has been accused of helping in the release of a landlord who had been accused of racial discrimination.

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to immediately send amicus curie for the hearing on a case against the appointments made as per the ordinance related to the constitutional council.

A divisional bench of justice duo, Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma on Friday ordered the Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association to immediately send the amicus curie.

In the order, it is stated that "The apex court has urged the Supreme Court Bar Association and NBA to send two senior advocates each to help the court in course of the hearing on the writ".

Hearing on a writ petition filed by advocate Dr Ganesh Regmi and others whether or not the Chief Justice to stay in the constitutional bench, a single bench of apex court Justice Hari Prasad Fuyal had issued an interim order to stay the dispute on the ordinance related to the constitutional council.

The apex court had issued the interim order not to conduct any hearing on the dispute related to the ordinance until its settlement.
