Australian Ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Purna Bahadur Khadka at the latter's office on Wednesday.
During the meeting, DPM Khadka thanked the Government of Australia for the support in providing vaccines and other assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed the confidence that the support would continue including for the protection and safety of Nepali students in various academic institutes in Australia, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Defense on wednesday.
The Defense Minister also pointed out the possibility of exchange of cooperation between the Nepali Army and the Australian Army, including various kinds of training and academic programmes.
On the occasion, Ambassador Volk said the increasing number of Nepali communities was contributing to the economic and cultural development of Australia, and expressed the commitment to provide necessary support to the Nepali community and students in Australia.
Joint-Secretaries of the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present during the meeting.
