Baitadi District Administration Office (DAO) has requested Indian returnees to stay in Quarantine for seven days amid the fear of spreading the Omicron variant in the district.
The DAO has also issued a correspondence letter to the local level government to manage the home quarantine facilities and monitor them strictly.
People returning from India will undergo antigen tests in the Jhulaghat border and have requested them to stay in quarantine, said Khagendra Bharati, Information Officer of DAO.
A health desk has been set up in Jhulaghat and COVID testing is underway. Likewise, the DAO has appealed to citizens to follow health protocols against COVID in the border area.
Similarly, the Indian administration has also tightened the border area after detecting the Omicron variant in India. People must show a vaccination card ID to enter India via Jhulaghat.
The Indian administration will only allow people to enter India 15 days after receiving full doses of COVID vaccines. Pithoragarh District Administration Office has sent a letter stating that people willing to enter India should show a vaccination ID card. India will not let people cross the border without a vaccination ID card.
Meanwhile, India's tally of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 rose from five on Sunday morning to 21 in the evening. During the day, nine cases of Omicron variant were reported from Jaipur, the capital city of the western state of Rajasthan, and seven from the southwestern state of Maharashtra.
