Bird flu has re-emerged in Chitwan. Bird flu has been detected at Anita Livestock Farm in Rapti Municipality-6.
Chief District Officer Asman Tamang said that the infection was confirmed on Thursday after samples were collected and sent to Kathmandu on February 8 after the chickens started dying. According to him, H5N1 infection of bird flu has been detected in the chickens.
The farm has 2,000 chickens. He said that the work of destroying the birds around 100 meters from the farm will be done today. He further added that their sales would be stopped by monitoring the farms two kilometers around the place of the virus's origin. He informed that samples of suspicious farms will be collected and tested.
He said that today's meeting of the Bird Flu Prevention and Control Committee, Chitwan, has decided to move ahead with the control work as per the Bird Flu Control Rules, 2021/22.
